Whenever I do a maternity session I get so excited about meeting the new little one. But occasionally, it happens a little sooner than I expect! That was the case with Cecilia. Let’s just say it’s a good thing we booked her mom’s (Kirby’s) maternity shoot when we did, because Kirby went into labor not long after our session. I guess Cecilia was eager to make her debut!
Because babies have a mind of their own—particularly when it comes to their arrival date—I make sure that my calendar is designed with built-in flexibility. When you schedule your newborn session we’ll plan for a week or two after the due date. But as a newborn photographer, I’m well aware that that date might (and probably will) change! This is totally fine and not something to stress about.
Cecilia certainly wasn’t worried! She was absolutely perfect for her newborn photoshoot and we got the cutest pictures!
Parents Kirby and Aaron wanted to include family photos (always an option with a full newborn photography session) so we spent part of the time in my lifestyle studio setup. This is a space that I’ve designed to mimic a cozy bedroom setting. It’s bright and airy, with a bed and window so we can get some family shots that feel very natural and organic.
I always love doing family photos during a newborn session. There’s just something magical about that connection that happens between parents and their new baby, and I feel so privileged to capture it in a visual form that can be looked back on and treasured.
Such a delight to spend time in my Eugene photo studio with this beautiful baby girl and her mom and dad! If you’re interested in baby portraits for your own little one, I hope you’ll be in touch. I offer sessions for every stage of life, from maternity and newborn to milestones and motherhood, and everything in between!
