I absolutely loved this sweet and simple baby boy newborn photography session. Mama Emily brought adorable little Cole to my photography studio in Eugene, Oregon shortly after he was born so she could have baby pictures to cherish forever.
Newborn sessions make up the majority of my work as a photographer, and I love this! Not only because babies are my absolute favorite, but because I’m so passionate about people capturing those first days so they can hold on to them as their little one grows. Babies change in the blink of an eye (I have babies of my own, so I know!) and as a mother, I know how much it means to have photos of them at all the different stages of their lives.
Emily decided to bypass family photos and do solo newborn photos only. She really wanted the focus to be on Cole, and that extended to keeping our colors simple and props to a minimum so there were no distractions. She requested very neutral colors with some sage worked in, so that’s what I picked out from my collection of newborn outfits and swaddles.
Cole did a wonderful job for me, and I love the way his photos turned out! People sometimes wonder which is better: very simple newborn photos, or more whimsical ones with brighter colors and fun props. You really can’t go wrong with either—it’s very much a matter of personal taste. No matter what colors you choose or whether you decide to use props or skip them, the photos will be pictures of your baby…which means they will be beautiful!
