I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that the new year is off to a great start! I took these 6-month photos of Jaini last summer, but I figured now is the perfect time to share them. Sometimes these long winter days can start getting to me, and I need a reminder of warmer days and sunny evenings.
Kristina and Jerome wanted to capture Jaini’s 6-month baby pictures outside and also include their doggies, like we did during their maternity session. We headed to Dorris Ranch (which has become one of my favorite outdoor locations in my work as a Eugene, Oregon photographer) to enjoy the beautiful orchards and trails.
Sunrise and sunset tend to be the best times to capture outdoor portraits, since the light is perfect at that time, but during the summer, sunset can be well past bedtime for younger kiddos. I was prepared to break out all my baby whisperer tricks to keep Jaini happy, since our session was later in the summer evening, but there was no need. She was the smiliest baby and stayed happy the entire session! (I remember she was an absolute trooper for her newborn session too—she is just a sweetheart and so easy to work with!)
It was so fun spending time with this beautiful family in one of my favorite spots. Dorris Ranch provides so many great backdrops for outdoor portraits, and we even found a patch of lavender for some extra color. The dogs loved being outside and were very well-behaved when it was their turn to join in the pictures. Kids and dogs just go together, and I think it’s so fun that Jaini and the labs will grow up with each other. Of course for me, the best part was capturing all of Jaini’s sweet smiles and her interactions with mom and dad! 6-month baby portraits are some of my favorites. Such a fun age!
